BASF Shuts Chemical Plant in Germany Amid Nitric Acid Leak

01:54 AM EDT, 07/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BASF (BAS.F) shut down a unit after it reported a nitric acid leak incident at a facility in Germany, Bloomberg News reported July 11, citing a company statement. The German chemicals group said the affected unit released a chemical cloud, which firefighters extinguished. The company added that there were no reported injuries from the incident.
