04:24 AM EDT, 07/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- ABB's (ABBN.SW, ABB.ST) ABB Electrification Ventures acquired a minority stake in UK-based Gridcog, a digital platform for modeling next-generation energy projects, according to a Tuesday release. The Swedish-Swiss engineering and technology group expects the investment to accelerate the development of advanced modelling capabilities to support renewable generation and storage, industrial microgrids, distributed energy resources, alternative energy procurement strategies and energy-as-a-service systems. The partnership strengthens ABB's ability to connect software, hardware, and services into more integrated as-a-service offerings, while helping its commercial and industrial clients design, compare, and validate complex energy projects. ABB's venture capital arm led a funding round in Gridcog alongside AXPO, DNV, and Verbund Ventures, as well as existing shareholders Albion and Clean Energy Finance Corp.
