11:33 PM EDT, 07/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Drugmaker Novo Nordisk (NOVO-B.CO) landed the European Commission's approval to sell its weight management pill Wegovy in the bloc, according to a Wednesday release. The approval was based on the Oasis clinical trial program, in which oral semaglutide resulted in 17% weight loss, compared with 3% with placebo, when taken alongside lifestyle changes. Besides approving the first oral GLP-1 for weight management in the European Union, the regulator also greenlit a Wegovy injection for a higher dose. The pill has regulatory clearance in the US, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
