02:35 AM EDT, 07/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Scaleway received a contract to become the sovereign cloud provider of aerospace and defense company Airbus (AIR.PA, AIR.F), according to a Thursday release. Under the deal, the European public cloud and artificial intelligence platform of the Iliad Group will provide the planemaker with a sovereign cloud platform that can support business-critical applications across aircraft design, engineering, manufacturing and enterprise operations. Reuters, citing Airbus, reported on the same day that up to 900 sensitive industrial and defense applications will be migrated to the platform under the multi-year deal. The initial migration of 70 applications is expected by the end of 2028, with succeeding migrations over the next five to six years. Airbus Chief Digital Officer Catherine Jestin said the aircraft manufacturer reviewed more than 150 technical and legal requirements before choosing Scaleway for the deal, the report added.
