03:07 AM EDT, 07/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday outlined a package of measures to ensure that London Heathrow Airport's planned expansion is delivered with enhanced capital governance and cost efficiency. The measures also include greater scrutiny of procurement, powers to require competitive tendering and a longer-term framework. The regulator is also exploring options to allow direct competition in the project if a third party secures planning consent through the development consent order process. The authority is inviting stakeholders to comment on the proposed next steps for developing the new regulatory models by Aug. 13.
