09:39 AM EDT, 07/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission on Thursday issued two new binding measures under the Digital Markets Act to Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google, aiming to offer users in the European Union a wider range of options for artificial intelligence and online search services. The first specification measure aims to ensure that the US technology giant offers interoperability with the Google Android operating system for third-party AI assistants. The second specifies how Google should share search data with rival search engines. The search data sharing is required from January 2027, while users are expected to see the required changes to Android as of July 2027. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
