According to reports, Kimi K3 is a 2.8 trillion parameter model, built based on KDA's hybrid linear attention mechanism (Kimi Delta Attention) and attention residuals (Attention Residuals) technology. It natively supports visual understanding and has a contextual window of 1 million tokens. It is the world's first open source 3 trillion model, designed for cutting-edge intelligent scenarios such as long-term programming, knowledge work, and reasoning.
Kimi K3 focuses on optimizing agentic coding (Agentic Coding) capabilities. It can understand large code bases, call tools, perform tests, and continuously adjust task plans based on feedback. At the same time, K3 uses a moE design with a higher degree of sparseness. According to information compiled by the community, the model has 896 expert modules, but only 16 experts are activated each time for inference, controlling calculation costs while expanding the model capacity.
According to media reports, the latest version of the Dark Side of the Moon Kimi K3 model series is expected to reach or even surpass the performance level of Anthropic Opus 4.8.
Dark Side of the Moon said that although the overall performance of Kimi K3 still lags behind the strongest closed-source models Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol, it has shown cutting-edge capabilities in its complete set of reviews and has steadily surpassed all other models.
From now on, you can use the Kimi K3 model through kimi.com, the latest Kimi mobile app, the latest Kimi Work desktop client, Kimi Code, and Kimi API. Currently, the default thinking intensity is max (extreme), and the low and high modes will be added after subsequent updates.
