Johnson Matthey Closes GBP1.3 Billion Divestment of Catalyst Technologies

05:36 AM EDT, 07/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Johnson Matthey (JMAT.L) completed the sale of its Catalyst Technologies business to Honeywell Technologies for 1.33 billion pounds sterling on a cash-and-debt-free basis. The platinum group metals company's board also confirmed its plan to return 1 billion pounds of the net proceeds to shareholders, comprising 800 million pounds through a special dividend with share consolidation and 200 million pounds through an on-market share buyback program, according to a Friday release. The special dividend will be paid in the third quarter, with the buyback expected to start thereafter.
