South32 Logs Lower Output for Most Commodities in FY26

12:40 AM EDT, 07/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- South32 (S32.L, S32.JO) said Monday that its production in fiscal 2026 fell year over year for most of its commodities. For the 12 months ended June 30, the Australian mining and metals company's Worsley alumina production was stable at 3.7 million tonnes, while Brazil alumina production increased year over year to 1.4 million tonnes from 1.3 million tonnes. Brazil aluminum output was 144,000 tonnes, compared with 138,000 tonnes earlier, while production of Hillside aluminum inched down to 717,000 tonnes from 718,000 tonnes. Mozal aluminum production decreased to 248,000 tonnes from 355,000 tonnes. At the same time, payable copper production declined to 69,200 tonnes from 71,400 tonnes, payable zinc production to 39,200 tonnes from 44,500 tonnes, payable lead production to 82,900 tonnes from 92,400 tonnes, and payable silver output to 8.9 million ounces from 10.3 million ounces. Australian manganese ore output surged to 3 million wet tonnes from 1.1 million wet tonnes, while South African manganese ore production slipped to 2.1 million wet tonnes from 2.2 million wet tonnes.
