Insider Stock Buying Reaches UK£5.56m On Ocado Group

Listen to the news

Multiple insiders secured a larger position in Ocado Group plc (LON:OCDO) shares over the last 12 months. This is reassuring as this suggests that insiders have increased optimism about the company's prospects.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Ocado Group

The Independent Non-Executive Director Jorn Rausing made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for UK£3.6m worth of shares at a price of UK£2.00 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than UK£1.65 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.

While Ocado Group insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!
