04:13 AM EDT, 07/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Fitch affirmed its long-term issuer default rating on Continental AG (CON.F) at BBB and revised its outlook to stable from positive. The rating agency said in a July 17 release that the revision accounts for a slower-than-expected deleveraging by the German tires and automotive parts manufacturer. Fitch now expects Continental AG's leverage to remain within its BBB range between 2026 and 2029. The slower deleveraging results from a higher-than-anticipated shareholder distribution of 2.5 billion euros from the planned disposal of ContiTech.
