
The Zhitong Finance App learned that Samsung Electronics has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) assistant that can be used as a virtual health manager. Nowadays, more and more technology companies are using chatbots to provide users with personalized health analysis, and Samsung has officially entered this race.
Samsung said on Tuesday that Samsung Health Assistant can extract data from users' Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, or smart rings. The company also announced a range of other upcoming features on its health platform, focusing on health metrics such as heart rate.
The above updates will be rolled out in beta form next month, and users are required to opt in at their own discretion. This move marks Samsung's official entry into the increasingly competitive AI health circuit: screen-free fitness bracelet manufacturer Whoop Inc. has built an AI coaching function into its platform, and Google's new Fitbit Air also has similar features; leading smart bracelet brand Ora Health Oy has launched similar services, and Apple is also developing similar products.
Hon Pak, Samsung's senior vice president in charge of digital health business, said that Samsung's solution has a differentiated advantage because these health features can be deeply linked to the broader Samsung ecosystem. Equipped with Samsung's personalized data engine, the new assistant can read the device's schedule, travel plans, etc., and tailor exclusive health recommendations based on this.
Pak said, “Relying on data collected by various connected devices and user status information, we can finally achieve interactive services that are more suited to users' current scenarios.”
Like other fitness equipment products and tools, Samsung's new AI assistant doesn't diagnose diseases, provide medical advice, or make treatment plans. “Currently, we are putting protective measures in place for these features,” Pak said.
Samsung is also collaborating with medical institutions including the US National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to reduce the risk of AI making incorrect answers and ensure answers are based on medical research. Pak also said these features are protected by privacy and security measures at the software, hardware, and chip levels.
According to reports, Samsung is also building a platform for patients to share data with doctors, which is expected to be launched as early as the end of 2026. Pak said these new health features and platforms are all part of the company's so-called “last mile” strategy — a strategy that not only screens for health risks ahead of time, but also ensures patients can more easily follow treatment plans drawn up by doctors.
Samsung's vision for this platform is that after patients leave the clinic, doctors can continuously retrieve data from their wearable devices and track changes in various health indicators such as blood pressure over a long period of time, so as to better understand the patient's health status during the two visits. The platform's technology is based on Xealth, a startup that Samsung bought in 2025. Xealth is dedicated to helping doctors and hospitals connect data to wearables.
Pak said, “Many patients often leave their doctors' recommendations for health actions behind after seeing a doctor. We are developing relevant features to transform these medical instructions into personalized execution tasks that can automatically push reminders, and actually implement health interventions.”
