A week ago, CRISIL Limited (NSE:CRISIL) came out with a strong set of quarterly numbers that could potentially lead to a re-rate of the stock. The company beat expectations with revenues of ₹11b arriving 2.9% ahead of forecasts. Statutory earnings per share (EPS) were ₹29.60, 4.2% ahead of estimates. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. So we gathered the latest post-earnings forecasts to see what estimates suggest is in store for next year.
Taking into account the latest results, the consensus forecast from CRISIL's dual analysts is for revenues of ₹44.3b in 2026. This reflects a credible 7.3% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to accumulate 7.2% to ₹130. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of ₹43.3b and earnings per share (EPS) of ₹129 in 2026. There doesn't appear to have been a major change in sentiment following the results, other than the small increase to revenue estimates.

Even though revenue forecasts increased, there was no change to the consensus price target of ₹4,958, suggesting the analysts are focused on earnings as the driver of value creation.
Taking a look at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can understand these forecasts is to see how they compare to both past performance and industry growth estimates. It's clear from the latest estimates that CRISIL's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 15% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2026 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 11% p.a. over the past five years. Other similar companies in the industry (with analyst coverage) are also forecast to grow their revenue at 14% per year. CRISIL is expected to grow at about the same rate as its industry, so it's not clear that we can draw any conclusions from its growth relative to competitors.
The most obvious conclusion is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with the analysts holding their earnings forecasts steady, in line with previous estimates. There was also an upgrade to revenue estimates, although as we saw earlier, forecast growth is only expected to be about the same as the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at ₹4,958, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
With that in mind, we wouldn't be too quick to come to a conclusion on CRISIL. Long-term earnings power is much more important than next year's profits. At least one analyst has provided forecasts out to 2028, which can be seen for free on our platform here.
