02:44 AM EDT, 07/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK, the European Union, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates are among 60 countries facing new US tariffs following a Section 301 probe into alleged failures to prohibit or ban the import of goods produced with "forced labor." In a new presidential memorandum published Thursday, tiered tariffs based on each economy's domestic forced-labor enforcement subjected the UK to a 10% rate, while Saudi Arabia and the UAE are subjected to a 12.5% rate. Additionally, total duties for the EU and Switzerland are capped at 10% and 12.5%, respectively, net of standard "most-favored" nation rates. Select products are exempted across various categories to minimize economic disruption. The Office of the US Trade Representative initiated its investigation on March 12 to determine whether the 60 nations' failure to prohibit or enforce bans on forced-labor imports "unreasonably burdened" US commerce.
