Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) stock fell more than 1% in Friday’s premarket session as traders locked in gains across memory-chip stocks despite a stronger broader market.
Nasdaq futures rose 0.19%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.28%. Memory-chip peers also moved lower, including Sandisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK), SK hynix Inc. (OTC:SKHY) and Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ:WDC).
Micron has surged 786.25% over the past 12 months and is trading near the top of its 52-week range, a position that could prompt profit-taking or a period of consolidation after its strong rally.
Micron remains in a mixed technical setup. The stock trades about 2% above its 20-day simple moving average but roughly 2% below its 50-day simple moving average. That suggests near-term momentum has softened while the longer-term uptrend remains intact.
The relative strength index stands at 52.02, indicating neutral momentum. The MACD remains below its signal line, pointing to short-term bearish pressure.
Support sits near $891.50, while resistance is around $1,089.50. A break below support could trigger additional selling, while a move above resistance would reinforce the longer-term uptrend.
The broader trend remains constructive because the 50-day moving average is still above the 200-day moving average. Micron also trades at about 75% of its 52-week range, showing the stock remains closer to its highs despite the recent pullback.
Micron is expected to report quarterly results around Sept. 22, 2026.
Wall Street expects earnings of $31.24 per share on revenue of $50.72 billion, compared with $3.03 per share and $11.31 billion in the year-ago quarter.
