07:31 AM EDT, 07/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use recommended the approval of AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) and Daiichi Sankyo's combination drug for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. AstraZeneca said Friday that Enhertu, in combination with pertuzumab, was recommended as the 1st-line treatment of adult patients with unresectable or metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. The endorsement is based on the results from the Destiny-Breast09 late-stage trial, where the combination therapy reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 44% compared with a combination of taxane, trastuzumab and pertuzumab.
