US Stocks Mixed; American Express Shares Fall Following Q2 Results

U.S. stocks traded mixed this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 0.2% on Friday.

Following the market opening Friday, the Dow traded up 0.17% to 51,799.17 while the NASDAQ declined 0.15% to 25,099.23. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.04% to 7,411.54.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Real estate shares jumped by 1.3% on Friday.

In trading on Friday, information technology stocks fell by 0.3%.

Top Headline

American Express Co (NYSE:AXP) shares fell around 6% on Friday after the company reported mixed second-quarter financial results and narrowed its FY26 sales guidance slightly below estimates.

American Express reported quarterly earnings of $4.53 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $4.40 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $19.637 billion which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $19.694 billion.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Ohmyhome Ltd (NASDAQ:OMH) shares shot up 95% to $0.83.
  • Shares of LiveWire Group Inc (NYSE:LVWR) got a boost, surging 68% to $1.29 after the electric motorcycle maker posted second-quarter results, in which consolidated revenue increased 55%.
  • Vivakor inc (NASDAQ:VIVK) shares were also up, gaining 50% to $3.18. Vivakor said it surpassed $1 billion in annualized physical crude transactions.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Robin Energy Ltd (NASDAQ:RBNE) shares dropped 35% to $3.69 after the company announced the pricing of its $3 million offering of 750,000 shares at $4.00 per share.
  • Shares of RADIOPHARM THERANOSTICS (NASDAQ:RADX) were down 26% to $3.19 after announcing $4.1 million U.S. direct offering of shares and warrants along with A$12.7 million ($8.9 million) Australian placement.
  • Codexis Inc (NASDAQ:CDXS) was down, falling 24% to $1.51 after the company announced the pricing of its $23.1 million public offering of 16,666,667 shares at $1.50 per share.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 1.9% to $90.43 while gold traded down 0.1% at $4,048.90.

Silver traded up 0.2% to $58.180 on Friday, while copper fell 0.1% to $6.3395.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 rose 0.6%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index gained 1.2% London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.6%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.8%, while France’s CAC 40 gained 0.5%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Friday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 2.73%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index falling 0.98%, China’s Shanghai Composite dipping 1.61% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.43%.

Economics

U.S. building permits declined 2.6% month-over-month to an annual rate of 1.374 million in June, above the preliminary reading of 1.367 million.
