04:34 AM EDT, 07/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- YIT (YIT.HE) secured a contract from UAB Lithuania Defence Services for a 30 million-euro project to build a Leopard 2A8 tank production and maintenance plant in Lithuania. The Finnish contractor, via YIT Lietuva, will specifically handle design and construction works through a design-build model, according to a Monday release. The plant, which will sit on an area of almost 10 hectares, will comprise the main production building and auxiliary-purpose structures. Construction work is expected to start in August 2026, with completion set for November 2027. UAB Lithuania Defense Services is a joint venture between German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall's (RHM.F) Rheinmetall Landsysteme and European defense company KNDS.
