The Zhitong Finance App learned that on July 28, the National Energy Administration released national electric vehicle charging facility data for the first half of 2026. According to data from the National Charging Facility Monitoring Service Platform, by the end of June 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructures (guns) in China reached 23.57 million, an increase of 43.2% over the previous year. Among them, there were 5.09 million public charging facilities (guns), an increase of 22.3% over the previous year. The total rated power reached 247 million kilowatts, and the average power of a single gun was about 4.935 kilowatts; there were 18.08 million private charging facilities (guns), an increase of 50.4% over the previous year, and the reported installed capacity of private charging facilities reached 155 million kilovolts.
In the first half of this year, electric vehicle charging networks developed rapidly, and service capabilities improved significantly. First, the demand for charging during the holidays is rising steadily. Taking this year's “May 1st” holiday as an example, the total number of charging times on highways across the country reached 9.9784 million kilowatt-hours, with an average daily charging capacity of 18.9863 million kilowatt-hours, an increase of 14.09% over the Spring Festival period. It also reached a record high, and charging demand for holiday travel was effectively guaranteed. Second, the construction of high-power charging facilities has achieved remarkable results. By the end of June 2026, more than 180,000 high-power charging guns had been built nationwide, and the construction of a high-power charging infrastructure system with reasonable layout and advanced technology was accelerated. Third, the layout of charging networks in counties and villages continues to be strengthened. By the end of June 2026, the coverage rate of charging facilities in counties had increased to 98.61%, county and township charging networks were being tightened at an accelerated pace, and the capacity to guarantee charging services in townships was steadily increasing.
