03:21 AM EDT, 07/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Office of Communications, or Ofcom, on Tuesday proposed ordering BT Group's (BT-A.L) network infrastructure unit Openreach to withdraw a discount offer for internet service providers that bring new full-fiber customers to its network. In provisional findings, the regulator said the "Incremental New to Openreach Offer" is "not fair and reasonable" and could harm network competition, and eventually trigger price increases for related services in the UK. Openreach notified Ofcom in June of its plans to introduce the offer. The regulator is seeking feedback from interested parties by Aug. 27 and expects to make a final decision by the end of September.
