The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government warmly welcomes the relevant measures.
Chief Executive Li Jiachao said that a series of measures announced today will help support the development and cross-border financing of Hong Kong and mainland enterprises, and further promote connectivity between Hong Kong and mainland markets through deepening cooperation in various fields such as indices, futures, and exchange-traded funds. Under one country, two systems, Hong Kong enjoys the unique advantage of being backed by the motherland and connecting the world. As an important bridge in the country's financial system, Hong Kong will continue to play the role of bringing in and going out to better integrate and serve the overall development of the country. Hong Kong has taken the initiative to connect with the National Fifteenth Five-Year Plan and is preparing the first five-year plan at full speed, actively promoting the internationalization of the RMB and cross-border capital flows, and promoting high-quality market development. I sincerely thank the Central People's Government and relevant ministries and departments for their continuous solid support to Hong Kong. Financial Secretary Chan Mao-po said that the ten new measures cover various areas such as cross-border listings, exchange-traded funds, index cooperation, renminbi-denominated futures products, simplified application for mainland qualifications, and strengthened financial supervision cooperation. They will help domestic and foreign investors seize the huge investment opportunities brought by the steady and high-quality development of the country's economy and the construction of a modern industrial system through Hong Kong. At the same time, they will also consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's hub function connecting the mainland market and global capital. Relevant measures will also further promote the collaborative development of the capital markets of the two places on the basis of greater openness, stability and efficiency.
