The US Treasury raised its estimate of the size of federal borrowing this quarter, mainly due to lower net cash flow expectations. The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Monday that the net loan volume from July to September is currently expected to be 739 billion US dollars, an increase of 68 billion US dollars over the estimated 671 billion US dollars in May. The estimate assumes a cash balance of $950 billion at the end of September, up from $919 billion at the end of June. For the period from October to December, the Ministry of Finance expects to borrow at $628 billion, with a target cash balance of $850 billion by the end of December.
