A total of 6,715 property sales contracts of all types were submitted for registration with the Hong Kong Land Registry in July, down 28.8% from June and 6.9% compared with July last year. Based on the 12-month moving average, the number of building sales contracts in July was 7,776, down 0.5% from June, and up 30.2% compared with July last year. The total value of property sales contracts in July was HK$51.7 billion, down 37.5% from June and 5.3% compared with July last year.

Statistics on residential property sales do not include residential transactions under plans such as homeowners owning homes, private institutions participating in the construction of houses, and renters buying homes, etc., unless the relevant unit has expired and the difference in price has been compensated.
The Land Registry also publishes the figures on building sales contracts over the past 12 months, the annual upward trend chart of building sales contracts, and the breakdown of residential property transactions.
Since land documents may be submitted to the Land Registry for registration within 30 days after the transaction date, the above registration figures generally show the property transaction figures for the previous month.
The total number of public searches in July was 1,466,737, up 190.2% from June and 246.0% compared with July last year. Search statistics include the number of searches carried out by the public through counter search services, self-service search terminals and the “Integrated Registration Information System” online service.
