Equities across the Pacific were pointed mostly upwards Tuesday.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 gained 202.63 points, or 0.3%, to close Tuesday at 63,957.53.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng lost 156.48 points, or 0.6%, to 25,862.92.

In other markets;

In Shanghai, the CSI index moved forward 57.75 points, or 1.3%, to 4,600.93.

In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index lost 0.03 points to 5,621.25

In Korea, the Kospi index gained 101.5 or 1.6%, to 6,358.95

In Taiwan, the Taiex index reversed 25.75 points, or 0.1%, to 43,360.66.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 advanced 128.53 points, or 0.9%, to 13,903.46.

In Australia, the ASX grew 126.47 points, or 1.4%, to 9,145.75.
