On a per-share basis, the Hampton, New Hampshire-based company said it had net income of 87 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 88 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 85 cents per share.

The fitness center operator posted revenue of $365.2 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $355.8 million.
