The rating agency said Thursday that the action reflects the potential improvement in the Italian telecommunications company's credit profile following the board's unanimous approval of a voluntary takeover offer from Poste Italiane (PST.MI). Moody's noted that if the acquisition closes as planned, Telecom Italia's rating could be upgraded by one to two notches. The review will focus on the combined group's capital structure and Poste Italiane's treatment of Telecom Italia's existing debt, among other factors.
