02:37 AM EDT, 08/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO) received additional approval from the European Commission for a type 2 variation of its Imvanex vaccine for smallpox and mpox. The approval extends the vaccine's marketing authorization to include children between the ages of two years and 12 years, according to a Friday release from the vaccine maker. The approval was based on data from a phase 2 clinical study co-funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.
