Asia Mixed, Japan Drops Again

Equities in the Asia-Pacific were inconsistent Friday, as the slump in Japanese markets continued.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 retreated 76.55 points, or 0.1%, to end the week at 65,606.71.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng sprang back 137.75 points, or 0.5%, to 25,668.03.

In other markets;

In Shanghai, the CSI index surged 43.13 points, or 0.9%, to 4,694.44.

In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index gained 59.44 points, or 1.1%, to 5,698.43

In Korea, the Kospi index lost 37.61 or 0.6%, to 6,258.77

In Taiwan, the Taiex index sank 170.79 points, or 0.4%, to 44,225.91.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 backtracked 133.93 points, or 1%, to 13,824.13.

In Australia, the ASX docked 7.98 points, or 0.1%, to 9,263.63.
