Share
Listen to the news

Leifheit stock has been grinding lower for months, with the share price down roughly 24% over 90 days, yet today’s earnings told a different story about what is actually going on inside the business. The headline this quarter is not revenue; it is the squeeze on profitability. Q2 swung to a small net loss of €0.085m and basic earnings per share slipped to a €0.01 loss, even as management pointed to an improved gross margin.

The market now has to decide whether this latest profit pressure justifies the prior slide in Leifheit or if sentiment has already gone too far.

Leifheit bull case hinges on margin and mix progress

Bulls argue Leifheit is quietly fixing its earnings engine through a better product mix, stronger brands and lower unit costs, even while demand stays soft. The latest numbers give this some support. Revenue in Q2 2026 fell 7.8%, yet the company still lifted gross margin by about 1 percentage point through production and portfolio improvements. Private label grew about 6% in H1 and B2C and e commerce sales rose 33%, helped by taking over Amazon vendor stock keeping units. That points to the channel shift thesis starting to show up in the data. Management is also pushing ahead with the FOCUS program and SAP S/4HANA rollout that target €7.5m of annual savings by 2028. These are early, but the groundwork for leaner operations is being laid even as reported EBIT sits around break even guidance for 2026.

Bear case focuses on demand weakness and execution risk

The bear view is that weak European consumers, heavy promotion and complex change programs will keep Leifheit stuck in low profit territory. The current figures support several of those worries. Group revenue in H1 2026 declined 5.8%, with Germany down 9.2% and the core Household segment hit hardest. H1 EBIT showed a €2.7m loss and free cash flow was €7.3m outflow, so the business is not yet self funding the transformation. Management cut 2026 guidance to sales slightly below last year and EBIT around break even, and pushed its 3% to 6% organic growth and 7% to 10% EBIT margin targets out to 2028. That delay backs the concern that recovery will take longer and cost more than first planned while marketing spend and program one offs weigh on near term earnings.

Compare Leifheit’s margin progress and guidance reset with how the stock now trades around €12.9, and ask whether the street views this as early proof of a turnaround or just a pause before more cuts.
