Claude announced on August 7, local time, that the programming tool Claude Code will enable automatic mode by default in Pro, Max, and Team packages starting August 14 to support longer autonomous task operations and reduce dangerous operations through automatic safety checks. Previously, users were required to manually confirm tool calls, while automatic mode evaluated each tool call in real time through a classifier to block acts that could cause irreversible, destructive, or unauthorized operations. Claude said that internal tests, third-party safety tests and actual usage data show that the automatic mode is superior to traditional manual review in terms of security. According to the company, corporate teams such as Adobe, Nuro, and Gusto have adopted the Auto model in production environments. Claude said that the automatic mode will currently remain optional in enterprise services such as Claude Enterprise and Claude API, and will gradually be promoted as the default setting in the next few months.
