12:04 AM EDT, 08/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BP (BP.L) is selling a 20% stake in the Manakin portion of the Cocuina-Manakin natural gas field bordering Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, Reuters reported Monday, citing an emailed statement from the company. The oil and gas company's interest in the Trinidad portion is being sold to the country's state-owned National Gas Co., or NGC, which already holds a 20% stake in the Cocuina part of the gas field in Venezuela. BP and NGC intend to sell 70% of the project's gas output to liquefied natural gas export facility operator Atlantic LNG, which both companies co-own with energy giant Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS). A final investment decision on the gas field is expected by the end of 2026, Reuters said, citing two sources familiar with the matter. BP and NGC did not immediately respond to requests for comments from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
