04:54 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto (RIO.L), Norsk Hydro (NHY.OL), and CSR are set to receive government funding for their jointly owned aluminum smelter in New South Wales, Australia, amid high energy costs, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday. Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said details of the financial package from both the federal and state governments, as well as future plans for the Tomago plant, will be announced on Thursday. Mining giant Rio Tinto owns a 51.55% stake in Tomago, renewable energy company Norsk Hydro's Hydro Aluminium owns 12.4%, and CSR's Gove Aluminium Finance holds 36.05%.
