President Donald Trump was sued Wednesday by The Intercept Media and Freedom of the Press Foundation over Trump Media & Technology Group ($DJT)’s Truth API, which sells faster access to posts from Trump and other senior officials. The federal complaint alleges that providing paying subscribers preferential access to official government announcements violates the First and Fifth Amendments and asks a New York court to block the practice.

  • Truth API costs $100,000 per month, or $60,000 per month with a three-year commitment.
  • The complaint says Trump Media had more than 10 subscribers as of August 10, with customers reportedly including financial news organizations and high-frequency trading firms.
  • The API provides faster access to posts from accounts including Trump, the White House, Vice President JD Vance and other officials.
  • Trump remains Trump Media’s largest shareholder, with roughly 41.4% held through a trust of which he is the sole beneficiary.
  • The plaintiffs seek to prohibit official government information from being posted exclusively on Truth Social while its paid API provides preferential access.
