Share
Listen to the news

Even though Soup Holdings Limited (SGX:5KI) stock gained 18% last week, insiders who sold S$2.4m worth of stock over the past year are probably better off. Selling at an average price of S$0.059, which is higher than the current price, may have been the best move for these insiders because their investment would have been worth less now than when they sold.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Soup Holdings

The insider Yu Seng Gust made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for S$1.5m worth of shares at a price of S$0.06 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than S$0.046 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.
