02:41 AM EDT, 08/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's antitrust regulator is investigating rail travel platform company Trainline (TRN.L), airline Virgin Atlantic and RED Driving School over alleged drip pricing. The Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday that it opened three consumer protection inquiries into the companies, citing concerns over whether customers were shown the total price upfront when buying train and coach tickets, package holidays or driving lessons. If the regulator finds that the companies breached consumer law, they could be required to compensate affected customers and face fines of up to 10% of their global turnover. Trainline said separately it has engaged with CMA for several months and is taking measures to improve the presentation of certain fees. The company added that it remains committed to transparent pricing and will continue to cooperate with the regulator.
