Takaful Malaysia sees positive outlook for takaful, insurance industry

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) remains positive on the outlook for the takaful and insurance industry, supported by continued demand for protection products.

“With inflation being a widely discussed topic and with the wider population grasping with cost-of-living issues, pricing and product value are key factors in most consumer’s consideration.

“In this regard, the government is expected to launch a basic medical protection plan, in the form of MediAsas in early 2027, with the objective of providing medical cover at reasonable entry prices,” Takaful Malaysia said in the notes accompanying its financial results.

“The group is confident that our strategic objectives are well placed to deliver towards customer needs, including pricing and value consideration,” it added.

Takaful Malaysia said its market-leading positions in the family and general takaful segments, coupled with its brand strength, would continue to support the business.

For the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2Q26), Takaful Malaysia’s net profit rose 6% to RM88.8mil from RM83.8mil a year earlier.

Revenue increased 14.5% to RM1.16bil from RM1.01bil, while earnings per share rose to 10.19 sen from 9.63 sen.

For the first half ended June 30, 2026 (1H26), net profit rose 6.4% to RM189.8mil from RM178.3mil, while revenue grew 6.9% to RM2.29bil from RM2.14bil.

Takaful Malaysia said it remained committed to growing its business responsibly while advancing its sustainability and environmental priorities.

The group also said it had made progress towards full compliance with the National Sustainability Reporting Framework by 2027.
