The market did not tiptoe into Nordson’s report. The stock jumped 8% to about $334.70 in regular trading, a sharp repricing after an already strong 30 day run. The question for you is whether that move reflects emotion or the earnings reality.
The headline is clear. Nordson just printed record quarterly numbers with about $818 million in sales and adjusted earnings per share of $3.25, both backed by double digit organic growth and a 32% EBITDA margin. Add a 35% backlog increase and you can see why traders rushed in first and are asking detailed questions later.
Is Nordson now priced for perfection after this 8% jump, or are traders still misreading what these record margins and backlog really justify? See how the stock’s current multiples compare on our valuation analysis for Nordson

Bulls argue Nordson is building a higher quality, higher growth portfolio driven by Advanced Technology Solutions, medical and recurring revenue. Q3 supports that claim in several concrete ways. ATS revenue of US$220m with ~31% organic growth and a 30% EBITDA margin shows the semiconductor and electronics engine is firing, and management explicitly describes ATS as at the peak of its cycle, not just bouncing off a low. Medical & Fluid Solutions delivered record US$231m revenue and a record 38% margin despite a prior divestiture headwind, which fits the thesis of a healthier medical mix. Company wide, organic growth of ~12%, a 32% EBITDA margin and 144% free cash flow conversion indicate the business is converting this cycle into cash, not just headline EPS. A 35% backlog increase plus raised full year guidance are the milestones bulls wanted on revenue visibility.
The bear narrative focuses on cyclicality in semiconductor tools, guidance risk and rich expectations after a strong share price run. Q3 does not erase those concerns but it reframes them. Management openly calls ATS “in the peak of its cycle” and expects growth to normalize, which validates the cyclicality point even as current ATS performance exceeds earlier expectations. IPS is growing low single digits organically with flat margins, so not all end markets are sprinting. Bears worried that heavy investment and M&A such as Atrion or CapstanAG could dilute margins or strain the balance sheet. Instead, leverage is about 1.7x and EBITDA margin hit a record 32%, so that specific fear is not playing out in these numbers. The sharper risk now is execution against a higher bar. Backlog is up 35% and guidance is higher, which leaves less room for delays or order softness in later quarters.
