Listen to the news

Shares of Jupiter Neurosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:JUNS) are surging Friday morning as related biotechnology partner PharmAla Biotech Holdings Inc. announced a series of corporate updates, including a newly granted U.S. patent.

Here’s what investors need to know.

New Patent Expands IP Portfolio

The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted PharmAla U.S. Patent No. 12,679,817, covering cost-effective, scalable manufacturing processes for single-enantiomer MDMA and MBDB compounds. This patent strengthens the intellectual property foundation for PharmAla’s lead drug candidate, ALA-002.

Jupiter Deal Triggers APA-01 Strategy Shift

The updates follow a July 2026 agreement in which PharmAla granted Jupiter Neurosciences exclusive U.S. rights to ALA-002. Citing this transaction as proof of its ability to directly monetize assets on favorable terms, PharmAla exercised its option to cancel a proposed licensing deal for its APA-01 compound with Restora Neurosciences.

PharmAla retains full ownership of APA-01 and plans to evaluate future in-house and co-development pathways directly.

JUNS Shares Surge Friday Morning

JUNS Price Action: Jupiter Neurosciences shares were up 68.86% at $8.73 during premarket trading on Friday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
