Intuit, Cognex, Toast And More On CNBC’s ‘Final Trades’

On CNBC’s “Halftime Report Final Trades,” Jenny Van Leeuwen Harrington, chief executive officer of Gilman Hill Asset Management, LLC, picked Microchip Technology (NASDAQ:MCHPP).

Amy Raskin, chief investment officer at Chevy Chase Trust, named Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ:CGNX) as her final trade.

Lending support to her choice, Cognex, on Aug. 5, reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and issued strong third-quarter guidance.

Cognex reported quarterly earnings of 45 cents per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 42 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $291.263 million, which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $292.545 million.

Rob Sechan, CEO of NewEdge Wealth, recommended Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU).

Intuit will release its fiscal fourth quarter earnings report after the closing bell on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings of $3.59 per share, up from $2.75 per share in the year-ago period. The consensus estimate for Intuit’s quarterly revenue is $4.27 billion. It reported $3.83 billion last year, according to Benzinga Pro.

Joshua Brown, co-founder and CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management, said Toast, Inc. (NYSE:TOST) surged to a new year-to-date high on Friday.

Toast, on Aug. 4, posted upbeat results for the second quarter. The company reported quarterly earnings of 26 cents per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of 20 cents per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $1.908 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.871 billion.

  • Microchip gained 0.9% to close at $65.86 on Friday.
  • Cognex shares rose 1.4% to settle at $60.54 during the session.
  • Intuit shares gained 1.4% to close at $367.00 on Friday.
  • Toast shares surged 3.7% to settle at $36.64 during the session.
