According to Woofun AI, Standard Chartered Bank (SCBFF.US) (STAN) established its position as the first in the industry, cooperated with Anchorpoint Financial to issue regulated stablecoins in Hong Kong, and pioneered the institutional-level digital asset settlement market.
An email announcement issued on Monday revealed that Standard Chartered Bank (SCBFF.US) will give priority assistance to eligible institutional customers and partners to incorporate the Hong Kong dollar stablecoin issued by Anchorpoint Financial, which holds the most shares, into the existing system. The bank plans to launch a number of new commercial applications based on the HKD stablecoin within the next month, covering scenarios such as market fund subscription, settlement with asset management companies, intra-group settlement through a global network, and cross-border payments.
Anchorpoint Financial began promoting this HKD stablecoin to a limited extent on August 12, one month or four months after receiving licenses from the first two stablecoins in Hong Kong. According to Woofun AI, the initial promotion phase will focus on inter-institutional payment and settlement services, then gradually add more usage channels and cross-border application functions.
In terms of competitive dynamics, Turkey's HSBC Bank (HSBC.US), which has received an initial issuance license, is preparing to launch its own stablecoin in the second half of 2026, and is expected to distribute the stablecoin through a payment platform with 3.3 million users. Kraken's parent company, Payward, has also further expanded its stablecoin business in Hong Kong through a $600 million deal to acquire Reap Technologies. The capital game between traditional financial giants and crypto-native enterprises is reshaping the ecological pattern of Hong Kong's compliant stablecoins.
