11:59 PM EDT, 08/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Lakefront Biotherapeutics' (LKFT.AS) and Gilead Sciences' (GIS.F, GILD.VI) gamgertamig received orphan drug status from the US Food and Drug Administration for the additional treatment of a skin disorder called pemphigus. The investigational medicine previously secured both fast track and orphan drug designations in the US to treat autoimmune hemolytic anemia and immune thrombocytopenia, according to a Monday release. The biotechnology company Lakefront expects clinical trial programs for gamgertamig in autoimmune diseases to increase in 2027.
