Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) reclaimed its top spot as the best-performing asset over the past decade, narrowly edging out Nvidia Corp(NASDAQ:NVDA).

Bitcoin Edged Past Nvidia in 10-Year Gains

Mark Harvey, a widely followed Bitcoin investor and analyst, shared a table of major assets and their 10-year returns.

Bitcoin claimed the top spot with a staggering 13,491% return, while Nvidia, a key gauge of AI enthusiasm and the wider U.S. stock market, finished a close second at 13,428%.

Nvidia Has Had the Better Off Bitcoin Lately

It’s worth noting that over a shorter timeframe, Nvidia has clearly outperformed Bitcoin.

Asset YTD Gains +/- 1-Year Gains +/- 5-Year Gains +/-
Bitcoin -9.98% -28%
+63.22%
Nvidia                +11.79% +15.94% +820%

Both Nvidia and Bitcoin are risk-laden investments, and traders must navigate their inherent volatility to profit. For that, analysts track the Sharpe Ratio, a measure of risk-adjusted returns.

Bitcoin’s Sharpe Ratio stood at 7 as of this writing, according to TradingView, indicating that investment in the stock was generating positive returns above the risk-free rate. In Nvidia’s case, the ratio was -1.20, suggesting that the expected return was lower than that of a risk-free investment.

Among the remaining “Mag 7” names, Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) delivered gains of 740% and 591%, respectively, in the last 10 years.

Compared to Bitcoin, gold underperformed, gaining just 248% in the last decade.

Bitcoin Climbs Above $80,000 in Latest Rally

Bitcoin reclaimed the top spot after a sharp rebound pushed the leading cryptocurrency above $80,000 for the first time in more than three months.

Bitcoin is up over 25% in a week, versus a typical weekly move of about 3%. It also broke above its 200-day moving average.

Price Action: At the time of writing, BTC was exchanging hands at $80,635.77, up 3.91% in the last 24 hours, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

Nvidia shares were up 1.16% in Tuesday’s pre-market after closing 2.91% lower at $208.48 during Monday’s regular trading session.

Benzinga Edge Stock Rankings indicate that NVDA maintains a stronger price trend across short-, medium-, and long-term timeframes, supported by elevated Value and Growth scores.
