
Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 25, China's Taiping (00966) disclosed the 2026 interim results, showing that during the reporting period, the company achieved profit attributable to shareholders of HK$12.873 billion, an increase of 90.3%; insurance service performance was HK$12.876 billion, up 4.5% year on year, and core business maintained steady growth.
By business, profit from the life insurance business was HK$16.682 billion, up 101.5% year on year, mainly due to the increase in insurance service performance and net investment performance compared to the same period last year; profit from the asset management business was HK$532 million, up 166.2% year on year, mainly driven by increased management fee revenue and cost savings. At the same time, the company's net investment performance reached HK$9.694 billion, and improved return on investment further enhanced performance flexibility.
At the same time as earnings grew, China's Taiping balance sheet continued to be steady. As of the end of the reporting period, the company's total equity reached HK$175.1 billion, up 6.2% from the end of last year; the equity attributable to common shareholders was HK$103.638 billion, up 8.9% from the end of last year, mainly driven by comprehensive income attributable to shareholders of HK$13.404 billion for the current financial period. Total assets reached HK$2,167.2 billion, up 9.1% from the end of last year, mainly due to an increase in total financial investment.
Long-term value indicators also continued to grow. The company's contract service margin was HK$231.4 billion, up 6.8% from the end of last year, mainly affected by the initial confirmation of contracts and changes in the RMB exchange rate during the period; the book value attributable to shareholders was HK$63.33 per share, up 8.6% from HK$58.30 at the end of last year. Among them, Taiping Life's implied value increased 8.3% over the end of last year.
