What's Going On With Marvell Technology Stock Tuesday?
Share
Listen to the news

Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) stock rose nearly 4% in Tuesday’s premarket trading. Investors positioned for the company’s earnings report as broader market sentiment improved.

Nasdaq futures gained 0.77%, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.36%.

Marvell will report quarterly results on Thursday. Therefore, expectations and investor positioning are likely driving Tuesday’s move.

Earnings events often attract momentum traders and generate hedging activity. As a result, the stock could remain volatile through the report.

Technical Analysis

Marvell traded at $237.42, well above its major long-term moving averages. The stock was about 63% above its 200-day simple moving average of $145.78. It was also 15% above its 100-day SMA of $206.18.

Moreover, shares traded about 2% above the 50-day SMA of $232.82. That level could serve as near-term support.

The relative strength index stood at 52.53. The neutral reading suggests the stock is neither overbought nor oversold.

However, the 20-day SMA of $212.42 remained below the 50-day SMA. That bearish crossover could limit short-term momentum.

The longer-term trend remains bullish. The 50-day SMA has stayed above the 200-day SMA since a golden cross formed in October 2025.

  • Key resistance: $329.88, the 52-week high reached in June.
  • Key support: $232.82, the 50-day SMA.

Earnings And Analyst Outlook

Marvell is scheduled to report earnings on Aug. 27.

Analysts expect earnings of 87 cents per share, up from 67 cents a year earlier. They forecast revenue of $2.71 billion, compared with $2.01 billion last year.

The stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 78.8. That premium valuation raises expectations heading into the report.

Marvell carries a Buy consensus rating and an average price forecast of $285.61. Recent analyst actions include:

  • Rosenblatt maintained a Buy rating and raised its price forecast to $300 on Tuesday.
  • Morgan Stanley maintained an Equal-Weight rating and lifted its forecast to $224 on Monday.
  • Wells Fargo maintained an Overweight rating and raised its forecast to $310 on Monday.

Benzinga Edge Rankings

The Benzinga Edge scorecard highlights Marvell’s strong growth and momentum. However, it also points to a demanding valuation.

  • Momentum: 98.68, signaling strong performance relative to the broader market.
  • Value: 1.28, suggesting the stock looks expensive on traditional valuation measures.
  • Growth: 99.8, reflecting high growth expectations.

The scores show a classic high-flyer setup. Strong growth and momentum could support further gains if Marvell beats expectations. However, weak guidance could trigger a sharp pullback because the premium valuation leaves little room for error.

Top ETF Exposure

  • Global X Artificial Intelligence & Technology ETF (NASDAQ:AIQ): 8.20% weighting.
  • Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXQ): 4.53% weighting.
  • State Street SPDR NYSE Technology ETF (NYSE:XNTK): 5.69% weighting.

Marvell’s sizable weight in these funds means ETF inflows and outflows can influence demand for the stock.

Price Action

Marvell shares climbed 3.54% to $237.42 in Tuesday’s premarket session, according to Benzinga Pro.
