Hogs Posting Mixed Midweek Trade

Lean hog futures are showing mixed action, with contracts down 15 to 30 cents higher. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $90.88 on Tuesday afternoon, up 27 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 21 cents on August 24 at $92.65.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down 75 cents in the Wednesday AM report, at $97.67. The picnic and belly were the only primals reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday at 488,000 head, with the week to date total at 957,000 head. That is 3,000 head below the previous week and up 25,640 head from the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $80.300, down $0.150,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $70.625, up $0.275

Feb 27 Hogs are at $73.375, up $0.200,
