Google has leased a large portion of a 231,000-square-foot office building near Union Station.

The tech giant plans to combine its multiple D.C. offices, reported the Washington Business Journal. Google will move its staff to 500 N. Capitol St. NW in phases over the next few years as the new office’s interior is built out.

The company, which has had a presence in the District since 2005, subleased 130,000 square feet at 655 New York Ave. NW in 2022 and also maintains about 100,000 square feet at 25 Massachusetts Ave. NW. For now, Google will continue operations at the locations until the new office is ready.

BXP Inc. owns 30% of 500 N. Capitol, with majority owner Masaveu International of Miami. Located a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol, the office building was built in 1966 and acquired by BXP in 2010.
