Kanzhun stock jumped 15.7% to US$18.84 into the close, which indicates traders liked what they saw. The move came after a Q2 print built on one core story. This is now a highly profitable online recruitment platform posting a net margin above 50% and an adjusted operating margin of 43.8%.
The other headline is quality of earnings. Reported net income of RMB 1.9b leaned heavily on a fair value gain from an investee’s IPO. That lifts the headline numbers today. Long term holders will focus on cash generation, user and payer growth, and how repeatable this level of profitability really is.

Supporters argue Kanzhun can use AI and a two sided marketplace to convert user growth into durable, high margin earnings. Q2 gives some concrete proof points. Revenue rose 14% while paying enterprise customers grew 11% to 7.2m and ARPPU increased 7%. That shows both wider reach and better monetization, not just one or the other. Gross margin reached 87% and adjusted operating margin hit a record 43.8%, helped by OPEX growing only 6% and lower share based compensation. AI products are moving from concept to usage, with more than 10,000 AI interviews per day and rising closed loop hiring revenue, which backs the claim that AI is now revenue relevant. The commitment to keep R&D at 20% to 25% of revenue and the Q3 guidance for low to mid teens growth are consistent with a thesis that this is a scaled, profitable platform still investing for growth.
Sceptics worry Kanzhun’s earnings quality, cash conversion and exposure to hiring cycles make the story fragile. Q2 net income of RMB 1.9b leans heavily on a one off fair value gain, which clearly validates concerns that headline profit can be flattered by investment marks rather than core hiring activity. Adjusted net income grew closer to 9%, and operating cash flow of RMB 945m fell 10% while profits rose, so cash conversion did not keep pace with accounting earnings this quarter. That aligns with the cautious view on near term cash generation. On the other hand, revenue still grew 14% with Q3 guidance of 11.4% to 15.6%, and paying customer and ARPPU growth indicate employers are still spending on the platform. The decision to fund around US$530m of 2026 capital returns while holding about RMB 18.8b of cash suggests balance sheet risk remains limited for now.
