08:33 AM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rheinmetall (RHM.F) said Thursday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government of Hesse in Germany for its planned development of a new logistics and technology center at the state's Kassel-Calden Airport. The project, which is valued in the triple-million-euro range, includes the construction of a 30,000-square-meter logistics center that will boost the German defense group's capacity to meet local and international demand for its tactical military vehicles. The facility is expected to be operational at the end of 2027. Rheinmetall also plans to establish the Hessian Drone Competence Center in Calden for the development and testing of its unmanned aerial vehicles.
