Spanish Annual Inflation Rate Grows in August, Flash Data Shows

03:12 AM EDT, 08/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Spain's annual inflation grew to 4.3% in August from 3.6% in July, according to provisional data from the National Statistics Institute published Friday. The reading is above the consensus estimate of 4.2% On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Spain were up 0.7%, against the previous 0.3% rise. The Spanish annual harmonized inflation rate came in at 4.5%, higher than the previous 3.9% and below the market forecast of 4.6%. Month over month, harmonized consumer prices gained 0.6%, compared with the flat reading earlier. Meanwhile, the country's annual core inflation rate fell to 2.9% from 3%.
