Listen to the news

From what we can see, insiders were net sellers in Metaspacex Limited's (HKG:1796 ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders sold the stock in greater numbers than they purchased it.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Metaspacex

The insider, Hou Huang, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for HK$38m worth of shares at a price of HK$0.39 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (HK$0.51). We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 28% of Hou Huang's holding. Hou Huang was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Hou Huang divested 104.14m shares over the last 12 months at an average price of HK$0.51. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership Of Metaspacex

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Metaspacex insiders own 53% of the company, currently worth about HK$130m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
